Welcome to The K to 3 Resource Room
The K to 3 Great Resources Group meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 8 pm eastern time.
Do adjust the calendar for your time zone.
The K to 3 Resource Room is a place where educators can share resources, teaching ideas, lesson plans, etc. Visit The Resource Room to browse, use and modify our files, sample our resources or suggest a new resource.
The revolution is not about technology.
The real revolution is about access to information and communication. It's not about the wires, it's about what flows through them.
The Internet can provide any version of the truth to support almost any belief. We need to teach students how to read the grammar of the Internet and apply strategies to validate information on websites.
Access to more timely information and communication tools can empower educators to focus on individual learning needs of their students.
We have the opportunity to provide our students with authentic assessment relationships over the web that can help dramatically improve student motivation.
The reality of the networked global economy is that any desk job can be moved anywhere in the world within seconds. Our students must learn global survival skills of competing and cooperating with people around the world.
Articulating vision and mission, managing change, and aligning technology to primary goals are key skills for school leaders.

Searching the web with Personality
Doug Johnson (Blue Skunk Blog) points us at the Ms Dewey site. In the interests of research I had to take a look at this quirky search engine ..Ms. Dewey is essentially an avatar commenting on every search you make. The video is sometimes a bit choppy and thumbing through the search results is a pain in the ass (they're all listed in a small window), but it's worth a quick look.
Ms. Dewey is pre-loaded with clever and often cheeky responses to search queries

Some Ideas for Upcoming sessions |
|
|
These ideas were grabbed from the Reception area discussions
I am a lab tech in the Hunstville City School system and I am looking for other Lab Tech to share ideas.
I'm the comp. lab aide for K-5! I love what I do but I do get frustrated sometimes. I want the computer lab to be used as an extension of the cirriculum in the classroom but I have a hard time planning for so many classrooms and the teachers won't do it! I have a few that love it but very few! How do you manage the lesson plans?
I'm a K-5 computer lab aide that works with K-5 students. I have been blessed to be able to build up a great lab with great software! We have Kidspiration, Inspiration, Kidpix, Key Skills, 3 different typing programs, Letterbugs, Math Essentials I and II, Numbers Undercover, Scholastic Keys, and 6 programs from Micrograms. I use these with many of the classes along with MIcrosoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel!
